Environmental responsibility is not a fad to us; it’s a set of personal commitments that we have made to be better citizens and neighbors.

We reduced, reused and recycled long before it was fashionable. We reclaimed our studio from a derelict post office, a block from the rehabbed, American Foursquare house that Penelope and her family call home. We’re located in a dense, walkable neighborhood in the inner suburbs of Philadelphia. When Demitri doesn’t telecommute, he trains and walks to the studio.

In our studio, the original window-grates have become interior railings and sliding doors. We work by the light of the sun whenever possible and energy-efficient lighting at other times. Our mechanicals, floors and finishes were selected with sustainability in mind. We compost our coffee grounds, drink filtered water and have a drought-tolerant garden. And we’re saving up for solar panels.

Though our creativity is never recycled, the paper we use must be. And we insist that our papers and printers come with a Forest Stewardship Council certification.
